More often these past two years than any other, people are recognizing that the Christmas season may be far from merry and bright for many. It can be a time of grief, loneliness, tension and worry. In the 14th Chapter of John, Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.”
One gift to offer this Christmas is a physical reminder of God's love, incarnate within each of us and ready to be shared. Please consider this invitation to share light, love and hope with a neighbor this Christmas season, and in doing so, remember that it is the light from the infant Jesus born so many years ago that has worked its way into this present moment of community. May the peace of Christ be with you as we remember the birth of Immanuel, God-with-us. If you would like ideas for reaching out to others of all generations, there are a number of them at this website: https://www.nextavenue.org/make-room-the-table.../
